Private Ear Privacy Policy

Private Ear is provided by Excelltech Inc. This policy describes version 3.0.

Private Ear asks for microphone permission. While the app is open, live metering processes microphone audio on your device without saving it. Tap Start listening to save clips when sound exceeds your threshold. Listening continues in the background until stopped or interrupted. Silence delay may include quiet audio at the end of a clip.

Audio, clip names, recording dates and your settings are stored locally. Private Ear has no accounts, advertising, analytics or tracking, and does not send this information to Excelltech or its servers. Your device’s backup service may include app data according to your backup settings.

Audio leaves the app when you choose Share audio and a destination. That destination’s privacy policy applies. Delete a clip from its menu to remove it from this device. For imported recordings, deletion also removes the retained original audio file. Deleting the app removes its local data; copies you shared or backed up must be managed separately.

Private Ear imports readable recordings from the original app on this device. Original audio is retained during import for recovery. The previous app’s password lock is no longer used. Use your device passcode and iOS app locking to control access to your recordings.
